I am submitting this entry from my office in Boylan Hall. I share the office with four fellow junior faculty members - all male, but we may have a female presence in the room starting next term. I've taken to calling the room "the frat house," but instead of beer bongs and scantily clad bikini models staring down at us from Budweiser posters, we have a coffee maker and bookshelves. (Speaking of bookshelves, in the future, I'll have more to say about desk copies, one of the joys of the profession.) The exterior of Boylan Hall is very Georgian-brickish, but the interior is mostly WPA. From the start, the office reminded me of something out of The Front Page or His Girl Friday, down to the rattling metallic fan (which, I am sad to report, no longer works). The coffee maker needs to be replaced, but I've also had delusions of bringing in a hot plate. The morning muffin, incidentally, comes from Blue Sky Bakery, much recommended.
